Climate Resilience | Dorka

Dorka is a farmer from Malawi and lives with her husband and two children. For people living in rural areas like Dorka, access to financial support and banking are scarce. Dorka is part of a savings group who Opportunity International provided with access to loans, business and finance training and a mentorship programme. In 2023, Malawi was struck with a severe tropical cyclone. Unfortunately, Dorka lost all of her crops. All of her hard work and labour had been washed away. However, with the support of Opportunity International, Dorka has been able to rebuild her farm and is now better prepared for future extreme weather events.
